About Us

DSC_1347.jpg.jpeg

Mshikamano Orphanage Centre is a registered NGO in Tanzania dedicated to uplifting the lives of street children, orphans, and vulnerable families. Our center, located in the heart of Moshi, focuses on providing a safe haven for children and women in need. We offer educational sponsorships to ensure children receive quality education, vocational skills training to empower individuals economically, and health education to promote well-being. Our rehabilitation program supports youth struggling with substance abuse, helping them regain hope and reintegrate into society as contributing members. Join us in making a difference in the lives of those we serve.

Location

The center is situated in Moshi, a city in Northern Tanzania located at the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Mshikamano specifically serves the communities of Kaloleni, Kalimani, Pasua, and Njoro. These areas are near the city rubbish dump and represent some of the most economically challenged regions in the country.

Our Mission

Mshikamano is dedicated to tackling the urgent crisis of street children in Tanzania. We strive to provide a safe and loving shelter, ensuring that every child has opportunity to attend school. Through our committed support and community intervention, we are changing lives and creating brighter future for these vulnerable children. Join us in making a difference today.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

Get INVOLVED

Mshikamano thrives on the support of global and local partners. Individuals can help by:

  • Donating funds or essential items like clothing and educational materials.

  • Volunteering as an ambassador to advocate for the welfare of disadvantaged families.

  • Running for the center by joining the official charity running team in major races to raise funds for vital resources.

Core Projects

The organization operates several key initiatives to support vulnerable populations:

  • The Safe House Project: Provides shelter and social work intervention for children between the ages of five and seventeen who have faced severe challenges, including child trafficking, domestic slavery, and various forms of abuse.

  • Child Sponsorship: Supports children by covering school fees, providing uniforms, and offering after-school education to boost academic performance.

  • Women Empowerment: Equips women and young girls with vocational skills—such as tailoring and soap production—and provides vital education on reproductive and menstrual health.

  • Sober House Project: A rehabilitation program created in partnership with stakeholders to assist youth struggling with substance abuse and addiction, helping them reintegrate into society.
